When I check my site’s rankings, I get different results than what RankPay reports. Why?
From RankPay
Just recently it became possible for different people to receive different results for the same keyword search. For some users, Google and Yahoo are now displaying "personalized" search results. This means that the search engines may provide you different results based upon your previous search habits.
There are a couple factors involved in these personalized search results:
- Geographic Location
Some search results and rankings will be affected based upon the users geographic location. If you are located in San Diego and do a search using "seafood restaurant", Google might include a couple of eateries from San Diego or California.
- Personal Search History
You may also be shown websites that are related to prior searches that you have done or certain websites that you have visited. When Google determines it might benefit you, they'll occasionally display these sites that they think are more relevant to you. You normally have to be logged into a Google service (like Gmail, Google Maps, etc) for these personalized results to be displayed.
The rankings we use to establish pricing are based upon the more common generic results that are not personalized. RankPay checks the rankings of customer keywords using a over 25 Google Data Centers and then computes the average ranking to assess associated SEO charges.
